How Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas is your gateway to the future of care

What's the future of care? It’s certainly not status quo. And it's not just more hospitals with more beds. The future is collaborating for better. In doing so, Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas, our new teaching hospital, will be a game-changer for Austin.

In an unprecedented partnership, Seton Healthcare Family, Dell Medical School at UT Austin and Travis County’s Central Health are creating a new model of care that:

  • Gives all equal access to the best doctors and new treatments discovered right here
  • Puts you first, providing the right care at the right time and place
  • Is financially sustainable while bringing greater prosperity to Austin
  • Trains new doctors in new ways to meet your needs

Dell Seton Medical Center at UT, the primary training site for Dell Medical School students, will become Central Texas' gateway to the future of care. Together, we will transform health care and the economic future of Austin.

Seton is investing $245 million to build and equip this modern new teaching hospital. With your help in bringing another $50 million in philanthropy, Austin will lead the future of medicine.

Your support makes a difference. Your donation, small or large, makes a difference. Every single dollar is a step toward transforming care in Austin. Make your gift to help build our city’s new teaching hospital today

Better care, better economy

Health care needs a new solution
Our innovative city is the ideal place to develop fresh approaches to medical education — and to create healthier populations. Austin will become a hub for medical innovation, biotech invention and economic growth.

A modern teaching hospital
The teaching hospital is where the healing happens. Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas will anchor a new downtown health district. In it, brilliant doctors, researchers and innovators will deliver a new level of care.

More doctors in more specialties

  • Local medical education creates a pipeline of new doctors; 1,700 more doctors needed within 10 years
  • Highly specialized doctors will be attracted by teaching and research opportunities
  • Patients won’t have to leave Austin for care

Collaborative care for all

  • Seton and Central Health are creating new models of person-centered care (think individualized) to secure the health of our region’s most vulnerable
  • Closing gaps and coordinating services, with a focus on disease management, prevention and education, will keep people out of the hospital and make Austin a healthier city
  • Seton doctors and Dell Medical School faculty and students will provide primary and specialty care for these vulnerable populations

Training new doctors across Seton

  • Seton’s new teaching hospital will be the primary training facility for Dell Medical School
  • Residency programs will continue and expand at Seton Medical Center Austin, Dell Children’s Medical Center, and Seton Shoal Creek Hospital

Homegrown innovation

  • Joint research across Seton, Dell Medical School, and UT Austin will uncover new cures
  • Patients will have access to promising new treatments at Seton’s teaching hospital
  • Austin’s biotech industry will reach its full potential with local clinical partners to test and commercialize innovations

More jobs and prosperity*

  • 15,000 new jobs created
  • $2 billion pumped into local economy annually
  • More dollars stay local because research and care stay local
