Timeline

November 6, 2012 — Travis County voters approve Proposition 1, a property tax increase to fund a medical school, provide a site for Seton’s new teaching hospital, and expand care to the poor and vulnerable.

May 9, 2013 — The University of Texas Board of Regents approves site for Seton’s new teaching hospital to be located directly across 15th Street from University Medical Center Brackenridge.

June 18, 2013 — Seton parent company Ascension Health approves construction of Seton’s new teaching hospital to be the primary training facility for Dell Medical School.

April 17, 2014 — Seton announces name of new teaching hospital — Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas — at Seton Fund’s Future of Care luncheon.

August 26, 2014 — Groundbreaking ceremony.

2017 — Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas opens.
